They were sad to part from their home and their owners were very sad to see them go. I must have heard Owen say. Chicken three hundred times today. He thought it was quite humorous watching Chris and the neighbor try to catch the birds, as did I! I was wearing Owen on my back and also filming and taking some still photos. From start to finish the excursion took a few hours - and Chris just went back down to the barn to get them a little more settled. We are thrilled to have chickens again, but wish it was for a different reason. We hope treatment goes smoothly for John and wish him the best in his hospital stay, & his fight against cancer.

Correction: Latvia vs. Lithuania
Today we picked up the chickens. A few corrections are in order... First of all, it was 10 years ago when John smuggled 6 Latvian eggs in his duffel bag he checked on the plane. Second of all, 3/10 of the chickens have this lineage. Third of all, yes, there are 10 total- 9 hens and 1 beautiful rooster.

Chickens
We are inheriting a flock of hens and one nice rooster sometime next week. A friend of a friend (now our friend) wants us to take over their care as he is undergoing his cancer treatments again... Our thoughts and loves are sent his way to healing as he has 5 weeks in the hospital.
These chickens are very special, and we are honored to adopt them. They are from Lithuania, and rumored, said, told to have started from an egg that John (the owner) snuck home on a plane! That was a while back, and the flock has successfully grown.
We (mostly Chris) are preparing the barn for a temporary home for the chickens. Due to the time sensitivity of taking over their care, we are making do and adding security reinforcements to the previous home for our hens. Over the next few weeks, as the birds get used to their surroundings, and as chores get checked off of our (never-ending) lists, they will have a more permanent and secure home with a free range yard that is just as secure.
When John and his wife came over to check out our property, they brought us a dozen eggs... Man oh boy they were GOOD! I am so excited to have eggs again, and also to help out this sweet couple. Thank you for my Lithuanian glories!
PS I am trying to wrap my head around how Chris, Owen, and I are going to catch 9 full grown chickens, box them up, transport them 25 minutes, and then unload them into our barn? Yup! Yikes!

Tahoe Trip & Yoga
Out for a walk on the beautiful meadow near the Aubin cabin.
Court taking pictures of her little friend.
Before dinner picture. We spent our first day relaxing, laughing, and napping! We watched some of those you-tube videos that are entitled Sh** Girls say, etc. Some of them are pretty funny, and we had our own list of Sh** Sisters say. Maybe we will make a short film. Ha!
Sprouts is just a short walk from the cabin. MMMM!! These are our juices/smoothies for the morning. PLUS food:).
We look forward to our getaway every year. Why don't we do it more often??? The second day we went to a private yoga class in a quaint studio. It was fantastic, really re-kindled my love for yoga. Thinking about my mat I use (I have a few, but I am picturing my favorite and most used purple one). It is my original mat, from when I was in high school... So, 1998... Mostly classes from Michael at the Sports club. When I had my license I would take a class MWF from 7-8 and zoom to class by 8:20. Those seem like such different days, but actually aren't too far from my days now....Ha! Owen gets me up at 6ish and we do yoga together:).
Yipes on tile down dog.Wood pile down dog.

Two different shoe down dog.
Beanie down dog.
Hot yoga at grammy's down dog. (Had to lose the clothes. 77degrees inside!)
Outside days
Most of our days these days are spent outside-rain or shine. Owen is running around, making animal noises, and getting into anything and everything. It is so much fun!
Yes, he is "One".
Feeding himself yogurt, it is so fun to watch him enjoy it. He has eaten up to 1 cup at a time. He is still pretty inconsistent, and in agreement with his therapy, we aren't giving him yogurt 100% of the time. Even if that meant he could be off the gtube that wouldn't be good, either!
He loves his wagon.
When the kid is tired he will carry his pillow pet around the house and collapse on it. He loves it, Erik!
